On Saturday 10.4.14, on OK Cupid, I met the man with whom I plan to spend the rest of my life. His name is Michael and our new home together will be Warren, Michigan, just north of Detroit. It’s a done deal…just as soon as I can get (back) there.
Statistics for people who enjoy things like that (Michael and I both do):
· 27 days (from our cyber-meeting to our meeting in person).
· 957 text messages.
· 82.17 hours of phone conversations.
· 9 days of ecstatic co-habitation.
It will seem like forever until I return…
Details, you ask?
He is an engineer with a degree in physics. He works in the auto industry (in Detroit, really?!). Both of his parents have passed away. He has one sister, two brothers, three daughters, and 9 grandkids with #10 on the way. He is a member of Mensa (and he thinks I’m smart!) (and funny and sexy). He spent 6 years in the military as a Ranger in Special Ops (that’s all I can tell you…), and he is an awesome rock/blues guitarist. We are the same age, born 4 days apart. He has led an amazing life, he is an amazing guy, he has a heart of gold, and he’s mine, all mine. I’ve never been happier.
My plan is the same as it has been all along, except now I have a destination. And an unbearable sense of urgency and impatience. The dogs are gone (to a no-kill shelter). I am preparing to have an auction, selling everything except what will fit in my car. The house is going on the market, and I have a property manager to handle it until it sells. I have told my boss I am leaving. My goal is to be back in Michael’s arms by the end of January for our birthdays, at the very latest. I still have obstacles and hurdles, which at times seem insurmountable, but I am whittling away at my mountain, one day at a time. (How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.)
My adventure has just begun. Our adventure…
